| Is your dog protected from Heartworms? |
All of my dogs here at SnowStorm Kennels are given a monthly dose of Heartguard Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) Heartgard Plus is the #1 choice of veterinarians for heartworm disease prevention! Heartgard Plus is 100% effective against heartworms; and it controls roundworms and hookworms. Heartgard Plus is approved for use in puppies as young as 6 weeks of age. It is safe for pregnant or nursing females, stud dogs, collies, and dogs with collie genetics. Heartgard Plus has a wonderful beef flavor, and should be chewed rather than swallowed whole.
The canine heartworm, Dirofilaria immitis, is a common parasite of dogs in many parts of the world. It occurs in many other animals, including cats, but it infects humans only rarely. According to the American Heartworm Society the occurance of heartworm disease in areas along the Atlantic seaboard and the Mississippi River basin is about 45% in untreated dogs. In studies in Louisiana, the infection rate in unprotected dogs was nearly 100% but these dogs were penned, which seems toincrease the incidence of the disease, probably because the dog can't move to an area where mosquitos bother it less. | Protect your dog from Fleas, Ticks, & Mosquitoes |
Here at SnowStorm Kennels, I put K9 Advantix on my dogs monthly. I have had excellent results with this product and highly recommend it. K9 Advantix® contains imidacloprid, which stops fleas from biting in less than 5 minutes and starts killing within an hour. It Repels and kills ticks. If a Tick is repelled, it doesn't attach. If it doesn't attach, it can't transmit organisms that cause disease and it also repels and kills mosquitoes before they can bite. Visit the website for lots of good information. http://www.k9advantix.com/

| STRATEGIC DEWORMING |
Here at our Kennel we believe in Strategic Deworming our Huskys to reduce the risk of Parasites by using DRONTAL Plus. What is Strategic Deworming? It means we treat our Huskys for worms at regular intervals that are specifically designed to prevent parasitic disease and the shedding of parasite eggs in our yard and home. Strategic Deworming prevents the shedding of parasite eggs by our dogs because the eggs can contaminate our yard, carpet or anywhere our dogs go. There is also a danger that the eggs can harm people so by doing this we are preventing this from happening. Humans can accidentally be infected with roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms. A few other ways to be extra cautious is to remove pet droppings daily, if not then 2-4 times per week. Keeping your pets flea-free helps because fleas can transmit tapeworms to animals and people. I choose to use Drontal Plus because its a combination of (praziquantel/pyrantel pamoate/febantel). It removes Tapeworms, Hookworms, Ascarids and Whipworms in dogs. Its a single dose per treatment and I haven't had a problem at all getting my dogs to take it. |
