Warning...My Story!!!

Well, where do I start. Ok in 2003 I decided my family needed a family pet so I started looking on the internet at different breeds of dogs. Well what do you know, the Siberian Husky was about the 5th one I read up on and they caught my interest right away. I printed off a bunch of information on them and let my husband read about them and what do you know, he liked them as well.... I spent a few more months looking up and reading up on Siberians because I could not get them off my mind. The pictures I kept seeing of them were georgous but what I was reading about them made me think it would be a little challenge to house a siberian but I was willing to dedicate myself to doing just that to bring one of these beautiful creatures into my home. So I finally typed in Siberian Husky puppies for sale in Va in my search engine and it brought me to Ibhuskitakennels out of lynchburg-Carrie and Allison Freeman. They at the time did not have any puppies available but recommended Arctic Shores Kennel out of the lynchburg area as well. So I looked up Arctic Shores on the web and found MY PUPPY!! The first moment I saw her I knew she had to come to me. I showed the rest of my family the puppies that were for sale on the website and they picked out the same puppy that I did....I emailed the owner Debra and told her i wanted the puppy and she said Ok, no questions asked...and I DIDN'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS EITHER... BIG MISTAKE. So I went and picked up my puppy that was in a cage with her siblings as well as many other litters in cages piled on top of one another in a small room, as we walked outside I asked Debra if I could put her down on the grass (there were other dogs outside) and she said Well yeah but she has never been on the ground before....???? HUH? Ok so we left and headed home. Bell wasn't like what I expected a puppy to be. She didn't play, she just set still most of the time but I loved her and accepted her into my heart and she became known as Isabell Snow... Well it was time for her first heat.... my youngest son was 4yrs old at the time and was in his room one day, setting at his desk eating a bowl of spagetti... next thing I knew he started screaming and ran out in the hall and said BELL JUST BIT ME.. I looked in his room and she was eating his spagetti..she had bitten him in the face over his bowl of spagetti I was horrified.....After everything I had read about a Siberian, this was suppose to be the last thing I would have to worry about with a Siberian.... I emailed Arctic Shores and told her what had happened, asking for some advice( this was my first puppy) and all I got was a suggestion to contact a behavior specialist because she didn't know how to deal with temperment problems....HUH?.... well I contacted a guy in Staunton Va i believe it was...and he was very helpful however everytime I contacted Arctic Shores Kennel, her emails got nastier and nastier and she was to the point where she didn't want to talk to me anymore and refused to help me.... so I got Bell spayed...Bell will be 4 in 2007..and has become to be my very special girl that I could never think about giving up.... She is very food aggressive to this day and demands to be the Alpha of the Pack....

Well going back now.... 6weeks after I got Bell, I decided she needed a playmate... So I contacted Ibhuskitakennels again and asked if she had any puppies for sale that I could buy. She emailed me a picture of this cute little red furball... I fell in love and once again DIDN'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS..nor did she...and said I'LL TAKE HER.. Well she didn't want me to come to her home to get her so she told me to meet her half way, so I did. WARNING SIGN..WHEN THE BREEDER DOESN'T WANT YOU TO COME TO THEIR KENNEL WHEN YOU ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO TRAVEL.... somethings wrong!!! Ok so I met her and picked up my new baby girl. As I was holding her on the way home I noticed a bunch of little dead bugs all over her fur...I was freaked out by the time i got home and gave her a bath right away. This puppy was full of spunk and gave bell someone to play with. Well after 2 days of scratching herself to death and on the 2nd night she kept me up all night scratching, i called the vet at 8am and demanded she see what was wrong with my puppy. I dropped her off and went home and received a call not long after..The vet was very upset telling me that this puppy was infested with Lice like she had never seen before on a dog. She said every hair she pulled off of her and looked under the microscope had lice or lice eggs on it... She also had coccidia, ticks and worms..When I went to pick up my puppy later that day, boy did she smell like rotten eggs. My vet told me it was from the medicated bath they had to give her and she would require ATLEAST 4 more to get rid of her lice problem. So for 5 weeks, I had to put up with the horrible smell of Rotten eggs, traveling to my vet to drop the puppy off and pick her back up weekly and of course swallow the Lovely Bill for this. Well I was worried that Bell may have gotten something from the new puppy so I took Bell in for a check up and I had them give her a medicated bath as well.Boy do they stink. I contacted Allison and Carrie Freeman of Ibhuskitakennels about my problem and was told they were very sorry but was holding the mother of the puppy for someone else that didn't send any money for prenatal care so they couldn't give her any and offered no health gtd and didn't have money to send me for my puppies problem but offered to sell me a Male siberian puppy at half price.... and guess what I did.... I accepted her offer...why? well they were really super nice and I was new to this whole dog thing and I assumed that her being a "Breeder" that she knew what she was doing and basically I put my trust out there....anyway this puppy came to be my Ms.Amber.. I had bloodwork done on Amber a brucelleous test done, eyes Cerf cleared and hips Ofa'd as GOOD and let her have her first litter on her 2nd birthday... and a year later she had her 2nd litter.. and I must say Amber is the BEST possible Mommy out there..she was wonderful.... but Amber will be 4 this year and her 2 litters were hard on her, especially the 2nd one and I am hoping her and Bell will become friends..lol so Iam getting her spayed anytime now.

Well it was time for my Male puppy at Half price...!!! Woo did I think I was getting a deal on this absolutely stunning looking male puppy..so once again I offered to come pick him up at Ibhuskitakennels but was told No, they would meet me. I didn't ask any questions about testing still as I was really not aware that it should be done on all breeding animals, So I agreed to meet them but oddly enough she let me pick the puppy up at 5 1/2weeks old...Huh? A BIT TOO YOUNG... But I didnt know any better. When I picked up this boy I was very pleased. He was so sweet and so nice looking... I was like YES I finally got me a good siberian.... well he went in around 4months old for an exam at my vets office and only had one testical descend so far...the vet was a bit alarmed but told me to not worry yet just wait till 9months of age and if it hadn't dropped by then it probably wouldn't descent and we would have to do surgery to get it out or beings it was in a warm enviroment up in his body somewhere it would eventually turn to cancer if we didn't remove it ....Guess what, It never descended. I emailed Ibhuskitakennels once again and told her about the problem and awhile later she told me that she had found out the stud she had used from Arctic Shores Kennel named Gizmo had been known to throw pups with testicular problems but was bred anyway...HUH? this upet me quit a bit..So guess what...I had to get the puppy fixed and beings it was a difficult surgery this cost me around $300...but he is my Midnight Thunder of the pack and Alpha Male and sweet as pie and one of the most beautiful siberians I have seen and of course had already won over my heart so he became another family pet. I was devasted by this time and Ibhuskitakennels was very very apologetic and sweet and seemed caring enough and guess what... OFFERED ME A PUPPY FOR FREE.... and will you believe what I did... I accepted...Yes I did.... Why did I accept... I have no freaken clue... I thought ok they are trying to make this situation right and still thinking these people knew more than me and once again trusted them so...at 5WEEKS(Warning Sign) old I went to pick up my New FREE puppy...He was a solid white boy and it was love at first site...the puppy used the bathroom while I was picking him up and had EXTREME diarrah..they told me it was because they just dewormed him...Ok I thought.... well it got worse and worse.... so to the vet we went.... BAD CASE of Coccidia and Giardia and worms. Yes Another NICE vet bill. Oh me I thought... well I got this puppy straightened out and tought Ok I will have me a nice stud dog to use to breed when the time is right.... at 6months of age I take Storm to Va Tech to get his eyes examined for CERF and guess what!!! They tell me that he has cateracts in both eyes and beings they were so obvious at such a young age they were most likely the hereditary kind and of course making him unbreedable but also could make him go blind at a young age.......I JUST CRIED IN THEIR OFFICE... My poor baby boy may go blind!!! I was in shock. Upset the whole hour and a half drive home. I remember calling my friend Janet to tell her the horrible news. All I could ask myself was WHY ME LORD... ya know i had so much love to offer these creatures that I didn't understand why I was the one that kept getting pooped on. A few days later I set up an appointment for my baby boy to be neutered...to this day he is a stunning Beautiful sweet solid white baby boy named Storm...but I can tell his eyes cause him to have some good days and some bad days. He is a very nervous Siberian and does not like to be taken out of his fenced in yard..he gets so nervous and spooked....but I will love him until the day he dies.  and YES I contacted Ibhuskitakennels once again about Storms issue. and do you know what, the whole time I was nice and understanding to them. Needless to say after finding out that Storm had cateracts and his father had cateracts,(who produced multiple litters)  ALOT of people with related pups got upset and started going after the Freemans of Ibhuskitakennels wanting answers and compensation and that is why to this day they are unreachable..won't respond to emails, calls or snail mail...

Ok backing up somewhere.... It was before I found out about Thunder's testicular problem, Ibhuskitakennels and Ravenwood Kennels out of PA did a breeding together between AKC Moondancers Red Cherokee Rose "Cherokee" and Ch Kia's Showin For the Gold "Rico"... Ibhuskitakennels had the female at the time of the breeding..well there was this one puppy in the litter that reminded me so much of my Bell that I just thought I had to have her. I was hoping since I had bell spayed that I could use this puppy for breeding purposes and maybe put her in the show ring sooner or later...after all her Sire was AN AKC CHAMPION...So I assumed and trusted that everything would be ok.... well the puppy I wanted went to live with Ravenwood Kennels as her Pick of the litter... Oh i was upset becaues I had my heart set on this little girl...so I emailed Ibhuskitakennels and told her I wanted this girl and to try and get her for me...Well Ravenwood agreeded to sell her to me... I was delited... so a friend of mine went and picked her up and brought her to me... and first off I noticed that the puppy had a bad smell to her..so I gave her a bath that night and thought oh shes fine now... well i kept noticing that she would leave wet spots everywhere she laid and her bottom was always wet and after awhile that stinky smell started to come back.... well her diarrah kept getting worse as well as the smell so I thought..OK somethings just not right... a few days after having her I take her into the vet and they tell me she has a severe bladder infection and bad case of Coccidia.....oh no, my beautiful baby girl was probably in pain but was so sweet I didn't realize it.... so lots of medicine and another checkup and of course a lovely vet bill cured my little girl.... so I thought... Well this girl, My Ms.Haley is the absolute sweetest Siberian that there could ever be, she hugs all day and kisses and lays in my lap... we just love the heck out of her..I even started showing her last year... we started out rocky but finally got a 3rd place out of 6 other siberians so that made me very proud of my girl. I know it doesn't mean anything to alot of people to get a 3rd place ribbon but for me and haley to get it...IT MENT THE WORLD.... I took Haley to Va TEch to get her eyes Cerf tested and what a lovely suprise they came back as CLEAR..YEAH I thought..this may be my break..this girl is gonna be my star..... ok so time for hip testing.... they came back as FAIR... OH me was i a bit upset... I just couldn't imagine my Haley as having Fair hips so I am going to get a 2nd opinion. The vet that did her 1st x-ray only did one view so Iam going to have my regular vet do more hip x-rays...(I was trying to save money by using a more local vet)..I didnt and still dont 'know why this is happening to me and my beautiful wonderful siberians...but I know this..I will stick by them till the end no matter what...and the people that put all of my dogs and all the others into this world with health problems should be .....well I will stop there but lets just say Iam discusted with alot of people, I put my trust into the WRONG people and learned a heard lesson..

So... the reason Iam throwing MY STORY out there....is to hopefully warn people of things to look for when choosing a breeder..... Ask many many questions and if they dont' ask many questions, rethink who you are talking to...Go see the facilities, call the breeder, meet the parents, demand to see Eye testing results, hip testing results and pedigrees..research those pedigrees, make reference calls, go the whole 9 yards and then some.....

Iam starting over....the HARD lessons I have learned have and will teach me to be a better breeder when the time is right for me to breed again... as for now, Wish me Luck in the Show Ring!!!!!

and this is My Story............ GUESS WHAT...THERE'S MORE TO COME!! IT NEVER ENDS....
